Unveiled globally in July 2026, the latest version of Mercedes-Maybach’s flagship SUV receives a stronger V8 engine, a redesigned exterior, a substantially upgraded digital environment and an even greater focus on rear-seat comfort. It is officially presented as a 2027 model in the United States, with dealership availability expected later in 2026.

However, India has become increasingly important to Mercedes-Maybach.
In January 2026, Mercedes-Benz began local assembly of the existing Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 at its Pune manufacturing facility. India became the first country outside the United States to assemble the model locally.
Local production reduced the GLS 600’s ex-showroom price from approximately ₹3.17 crore to ₹2.75 crore. The current Mercedes-Benz India configurator continues to list the Mercedes-Maybach GLS from ₹2.75 crore, before optional equipment and personalisation.
This localisation creates an interesting possibility for the GLS 680.
Should Mercedes-Benz introduce the updated model in India and continue local assembly, the company may be able to offer greater availability and more predictable delivery timelines than would be possible with a fully imported vehicle.
However, no decision regarding Indian production of the GLS 680 has been publicly announced.
The exact engine specification, equipment package and price for India will only become clear closer to a formal launch.
